Health system changes. Death screen added.

For a long time now, I've been feeling that the flow of the game is weird, having a limited amount of health that can be replenished by health containers found around the level felt like it didn't belong in this project, it is a concept made to punish players for unskillful gameplay, and to give a sense of relief when you could replenish it with health pickups, however, in this scenario that didn't really happen, if you found yourself in the middle of a fierce encounter and you end up with very little health, and no more health pickups are available, then you can't really continue playing normally or you will quickly die, and contrary to this, if you blast through enemies and end up unscathed, it feels like there is no real challenge or threat, and the health pickups feel useless.

How can anyone find this fun?

I want Basis-9 War to be a game where the flow doesn't really stop, where players can continue through each encounter with enough resources, but that those who play recklessly pay the price, so to solve this, I decided to reduce the player's health, cutting it down to less than half of what it once was, but making it regenerate completely when out of combat, something like Call of Duty, this way, even when encountering a single soldier, you can die quickly if you let yourself be, also, when you're damaged, a red effect appears around the screen now.

Health & damage effect, also, encounters are now more dynamic with these changes

With these changes, every encounter now feels like you could really die at any moment if you're not careful, since the kill time is so low, a single rotation of shots from two enemies can kill you, to counter this, I also reduced the max health of enemies by 20%, just to balance things out, this made encounters become faster, which I really like, I like that the game is shaping out to be a game where you have small encounters with enemies, each with its own strategy to perfectly overcome them.

A thing that I also never worked on was a death screen, before, you would have to quit the level, and either press the new game button again, or load a save, that was not good, so I decided to add a death screen that instantly lets you decide if you want to quit the level, or try again at the last checkpoint.

Death screen, simple and effective if you ask me

I should've worked on that sooner, but to be honest, I am not the most disciplined dev, in a burst of inspiration I made most of the changes in this here devlog haha.

But anyways, that's all for now, I've been doing stuff in the background apart from what's been said here, maybe you can even find some of it? Try playing more after you've beaten the demo, and you could find what I'm talking about! =)
